There are problems with closed blogs that don't exist with open blogs.
An open blog which can be moderated to keep out spam and trolling is more comfortable for the majority of people, I would think.
Why?
The 'blue meanies' have access to every closed blog and are easily able to manufacture evidence, depending on their requirements.
I had two Cif comments exorcised over the weekend. The end is nigh for The Merkin, I am pretty sure.
One comment was on the Rawnsley thread - a comment mentioning Hain and Northern Rock - and was not too extreme but was well deleted.
I did have 5 new referrals to my own blog as a result. Wonder who?
The other one was on the Frostrupp thread and is interesting - out of 5 comments only three have been allowed to stand and even those are critical.
